Back to School: The Second Term Begins for Over 170,000 Students

More than 170,000 primary and secondary school students are returning to school this Monday, April 28. The second term kicks off with the implementation of new measures stemming from the Education Assizes. Starting today, greater autonomy is granted to rectors, who will now be able to make certain decisions regarding school infrastructure.
The enhancement of extracurricular activities will also be integrated into the curriculum from this term. This reform will be rolled out in three phases, as stated by the Minister of Education, Mahend Gungapersad. However, questions remain among the unions.
