Medine Trail 2025: A Third Edition Blending Sport and Nature in the Beautiful Yemen Reserve

The third edition of the Medine Trail took place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Yemen nature reserve, bringing together a thousand participants across three proposed routes of 5, 13, and 28 kilometers. Organized by Medine in collaboration with Rando-Trail & Nature (RTN), the event allowed both amateur and seasoned runners to compete in a protected natural environment, featuring savannahs, wooded trails, and the iconic landscapes of western Mauritius.
In terms of athletic performance, impressive results were recorded. Ezechiel Colin and Rosemary Le Gac excelled in the 28-kilometer race, while Hanooveer Singh Boodhoa and Elise Aplin led the 13-kilometer race in their respective categories. Complete results from the various races are available in the attached communiqué.
For several years, the Medine Horizons Foundation has been committed to supporting local communities by promoting access to education, health, and sports. In this spirit, the Medine Trail 2025 introduced an inclusion initiative for the first time, allowing a ten-year-old girl with a disability to participate in the 5-kilometer Fun Run. With the help of a joëlette (an adapted wheelchair) and volunteers, this participation was made possible with the support of the Foundation in partnership with the NGO APRIM. After the race, the family expressed their great satisfaction and highlighted the warm welcome and attention received throughout the event.
Jean-Benoît Nisin, Managing Director of Medine's Lifestyle & Hospitality division, stated: "The Medine Trail has become a significant event for The West. It embodies our desire to showcase our natural spaces responsibly, promoting sports practice, environmental respect, and openness to an increasingly diverse audience."
The organization ensured that commitments made since the first edition were upheld, particularly regarding environmental respect by minimizing impact on the trails and eliminating single-use plastics. Medine thanks all participants, volunteers, and partners for their contributions to the success of this third edition.
The Medine Trail, now well-established in Mauritius's sporting landscape, will return next year to welcome both regular and new participants.
