Reunion of Alumni from the Islamic Cultural College

Former students of the Islamic Cultural College in Port-Louis, an institution that has played a vital role in the development of Mauritius, gathered for a warm dinner at Saffron Grill in Mon Choisy last Saturday.
This event, marked by nostalgia and camaraderie, primarily brought together seniors who were delighted to share their cherished memories and reflect emotionally on their school years and notable teachers. The meeting was organized by Nawab Moniaruch, with the attendance of MP Eshan Juman, who himself is an alumnus from the 90s.
Eshan Juman expressed a desire to organize an intergenerational meeting with current students of the college, aiming to pass on the heritage and values that have shaped many generations. Among the honored teachers present were Dr. Musleem Jumeer (historian), Khaidoo, Dustmohamed, and Professor Hossenbaccus, among others.
Nawab Moniaruch took the opportunity to warmly thank everyone present and called for broader participation in future events. He also announced a new gathering planned for October 2025. Dr. Musleem Jumeer emphasized the need to preserve the foundational values of the college and suggested organizing a picnic to strengthen friendships and solidarity.
One former student encapsulated the emotional atmosphere of the evening with the words: "It is always a true pleasure to reconnect with our elders — every conversation with you gives us incredible energy."
This event illustrated how the Islamic Cultural College Port-Louis Alumni remains a vibrant community, filled with memory, transmission, and future projects.
