Content: Rumors had been circulating for some time, and the news was officially confirmed on Monday, May 5th: Kevin Gutty has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC). Under the auspices of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, the MFDC's mission is to promote the creative industry, particularly through activities related to cinema.
"I am filled with immense joy and gratitude. I am thankful to Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam and Mahen Gondeea, the Minister of Arts and Culture," says 40-year-old Kevin Gutty. He adds that holding the CEO position at MFDC is a privilege, "but also a heavy responsibility."
He emphasizes that "the film industry has been nearly non-existent in recent years. With the new board of directors, our mission is to revitalize and restructure this sector." He plans to first conduct a comprehensive assessment of the organization to analyze its various aspects and implement various projects.
A well-known figure in the audiovisual sector, Kevin Gutty has produced and directed several television shows, including the Fer Gouté TV Show. Through his projects, he has always aimed to showcase local culture in all its forms.
The new CEO shares that his passion for cinema began with his fascination for art during his school years. This passion gradually transformed into a deep interest in film creation. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA), a Postgraduate Certificate in Storytelling from the University of Michigan (USA), and a degree in journalism. Kevin Gutty is also dedicated to the communication strategy of one of the island's main political parties.
It is worth noting that the chairman of the MFDC board is Arvind Mattadeen. The new board also includes Doorgesh Mungur, Ashwen Naidu, and Manish Soonucksing.
