Weather: A Strong Anticyclone Approaches Mauritius

Weather: A strong anticyclone is approaching Mauritius. According to a statement from the Vacoas meteorological station on Tuesday, May 6, clouds associated with remnants of a frontal system will influence local weather from midday onward.

This morning will be pleasant, but cloudy periods are expected starting from midday, accompanied by occasional showers mainly in the south, east, and central plateau.

Maximum temperatures will range between 23 and 25 °C on the central plateau and between 28 and 31 °C in coastal areas.

Occasional showers are also expected during the night, particularly in the south, east, and highland areas. These showers might be temporarily moderate.

Minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 19 and 21 °C on the central plateau and between 23 and 25 °C along the coast.

The wind will be light and variable early this morning but will gradually strengthen throughout the day. From this afternoon, it will blow from the southeast at about 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h in some areas.

The sea will be rough beyond the reefs, with south-west swells of about 2.5 meters, which could reach 3.5 meters during the morning.

It is advised to avoid outings at sea as well as in the lagoons of the Southwest, South, and East.
