Adsu Arrests Operator of a Synthetic Drug Laboratory

The Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit (Adsu) from Abercrombie conducted a raid on the home of a resident on Pailles Road in Grande-Rivière-Nord-Ouest on Thursday, August 14. They dismantled a synthetic drug network supplying the capital and surrounding areas.
Around 2:15 PM on Thursday, the squad led by Inspector Lepois, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent Azmi Rohomutally, arrived at the residence of Marie Stéphanie Diana Bundhoo-Lafoudre. This 41-year-old woman was the target of the police operation.
Her house and activities had been under surveillance. During the raid, officers discovered a clandestine laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs. They seized cannabis oil.
High Purity Synthetic Drugs
886 grams of synthetic drugs, including high-purity granules, were hidden in a refrigerator. 482 drug-impregnated papers had already been cut for sale. Investigators also seized 69 sheets of A4 paper soaked in synthetic drugs.
According to the anti-drug brigade, the market value of the seized synthetic drugs is estimated at 14 million Rs. During this operation, Adsu also recovered 201,875 Rs, suspected to be proceeds from the drug trade.
Following this seizure, the occupant of the house, Marie Stéphanie Diana Bundhoo-Lafoudre, was arrested. She faces a provisional charge of "drug dealing: possession of synthetic cannabinoids with aggravating circumstances with an averment of trafficking" and "money laundering" before the Port Louis court. The police opposed her release and she is currently in police custody.
