Eight years later, the warm voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan resonates at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre (SVICC) in Pailles this Sunday, August 17.
The concert is organized by Spelmedia with media partners Radio Plus and Le Défi Media Group. The event kicks off at 8 PM with an instrumental piece played by about fifteen musicians. The performance is projected on large screens for an enhanced immersive experience, allowing even those seated on the side to feel close to the stage.
"I am grateful that so many of you are here," says the singer. He takes a moment to pay tribute to his uncle and mentor, the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who passed away on August 16, 1997, honoring him by performing one of his popular qawwalis, "Allah Hoo Allah Hoo," while playing his favorite instrument – the harmonium.
Additionally, the audience is treated to a father-son duo for the very first time as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performs alongside his son, Shahzaman Ali Khan, in Mauritius.
Songs such as "Surili Aakhiyon Wale", "Ore Piya", and "Mere Rashke Qamar" are among the initial tracks performed.
Notable attendees include Industry Minister Adil Ameer Meah, Junior Minister of Finance Dhaneshwar Damry, Junior Minister of Local Government Fawzi Allymun, MP Farad Aumeer, and MSM members Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo and Roubina Jadoo-Jaunbocus, as well as horse trainer Soon Gujadhur.
