Decathlon and Beau Plan Join Forces to Give Sports Equipment a Second Life

For those unsure of what to do with their old tennis rackets or deflated basketballs, there's good news! The Second Life Bazar is a practical and sustainable initiative, an unprecedented event in Mauritius that will allow the public to exchange their used sports equipment for shopping vouchers at Decathlon. This event, organized in partnership with Beau Plan, will take place from August 22 to August 31, 2025.

The Second Life Bazar will occur in two phases: first, the collection of items from August 22 to 27, followed by the resale of items from August 28 to 31. In line with Decathlon and Beau Plan's commitment to sustainable development, this initiative aims to encourage the reuse of sports equipment, reduce waste, and make sports more accessible to a larger audience.

During the first phase, customers will be invited to drop off their used sports equipment of any brand (excluding electrical devices) at the Decathlon store in Beau Plan. As a thank you for their contribution, they will immediately receive a shopping voucher worth Rs 200. This event is made possible through the commitment and support of other key partners, including the Pamplemousses District Council, PIM Recycling, NRJ Mauritius, The Good Shop, and Digital Go.

Additionally, workshops, sports activities, children's events, and a food area will be available to create a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. Once inspected and refurbished, the equipment will be offered to the public at low prices, aiming to encourage sports participation at all levels.

"We are thrilled to welcome Decathlon's Second Life Bazar to Beau Plan. This initiative fully illustrates our commitment to responsible development for the benefit of our entire community," says Emeric Vigier de Latour, Senior Communications Manager at Novaterra.

According to Sébastien Empeigne, Marketing & E-commerce Manager at Decathlon Mauritius, "Giving sports equipment a second life is our way of combining accessibility with environmental respect. The Second Life Bazar embodies this commitment by bringing the community together around responsible consumption."
