BoM: "No Council Meeting Took Place on November 13 and 20, 2024"
The Bank of Mauritius has commissioned an investigation into allegations regarding alterations of minutes. This announcement was made in a statement released on the evening of Friday, September 19. This position follows the publication of several news articles claiming that the minutes of the central bank's board of directors may have been tampered with.
The statement specifies that the board of directors of the Bank was reconstituted on January 15, 2025, and that the first meeting was held on January 17, 2025. "No council meeting took place on November 13 and 20, 2024," emphasizes the document.
Furthermore, the Bank indicates that a computer audit was conducted without prior consultation or approval from the board of directors or the governor, in his capacity as chairman of the board.
