Mauritius Post Ltd to Celebrate World Post Day with a Series of Activities
Mauritius Post Ltd (MPL) has planned a wide array of activities from October 9 to 30, 2025, to commemorate World Post Day, celebrated annually on October 9. In this context, the Minister of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, held a press conference on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the MPL Head Office in Port Louis, alongside MPL Chairperson, Mrs. Lovena Sowkhee, and CEO of MPL, Anil Seeruttun.
Established by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1969, World Post Day promotes international cooperation and ensures that postal networks are universal, efficient, and accessible. This year marks the 151st edition of World Post Day, a symbolic occasion to honor the role of postal services in the daily lives of citizens.
As part of the planned activities, the new Mapou post office will be officially inaugurated on October 9, 2025, coinciding with the launch of a commemorative stamp celebrating Mauritius' participation in the 2025 World Expo. Additionally, a special stamp exhibition featuring stamps from various countries and UPU issues will be held from October 10 to 30.
Employees will undergo medical examinations organized by the Ministry of Health and Wellness at the MPL Training Academy, while the Postal Museum will welcome Mauritians for free from October 9 to 11, 2025. Furthermore, open house days at select post offices, including school visits and presentations on MPL products and services, will allow the public to engage with the postal services.
