Road Accidents: 96 Deaths Since the Start of the Year
The number of fatalities on our roads has now reached 96 since the beginning of the year. The latest victim is a 30-year-old motorcyclist from Terre-Rouge. He collided with a truck on the evening of Monday, October 6, in Camp-Chapelon, Pailles.
The truck driver, a resident of Curepipe, stopped shortly after the impact. He reported hearing a noise coming from the back of his vehicle and, upon descending to check, discovered the motorcyclist's body lying on the roadway.
Subjected to a breathalyzer test, the driver tested negative. A police investigation is underway.
