Weather: Ram Dhurmeea Was Just a Scapegoat, According to the Prime Minister

During the question session addressed to the Prime Minister at the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 7, Dr. Navin Ramgoolam stated that Ram Dhurmeea was merely a scapegoat. He was responding to a question from MP Arvin Babajee.

The head of government clarified that his team was not satisfied with the initial report commissioned by the previous administration. According to him, Ram Dhurmeea paid a heavy price, even though a statement was indeed issued to warn the public about the dangers posed by Cyclone Belal before it was later retracted.

As a reminder, Ram Dhurmeea, former director of the Vacoas meteorological station, was suspended in the wake of Cyclone Belal's passage in January 2024.
