Cost of Living: Slight Increase in Overall Inflation to 3.4%

The overall inflation rate rose from 3.3% in August to 3.4% in September 2025, according to data released by Statistics Mauritius on Tuesday, October 7. However, year-on-year inflation has slowed down from 4.8% to 4.4%.

In other news, the consumer price index slightly decreased, falling from 108.1 points in August to 107.9 points in September. During this period, there was a decline in the prices of powdered milk (-0.2 points), cooking oil, and ginger (-0.1 points each). Conversely, a slight increase was observed for prepared meals and other goods and services (+0.1 points each).
