Passenger Suffers Stroke on Board: Flight MK748 to Mumbai Forced to Turn Back to Plaisance After Two Hours in the Air

In a statement issued this morning, Air Mauritius announced that flight MK748, which departed from Mauritius for Mumbai on the evening of October 7, 2025, had to turn back after approximately two hours in the air. The decision to return to Mauritius was made at 7:15 PM due to the deteriorating health of a passenger who suffered a stroke on board.

The doctor accompanying the passenger determined that she would not survive the journey to the original destination, justifying the urgent return to Mauritius. The plane landed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport at 9:18 PM, and the passenger was evacuated in critical condition before being immediately transported to Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital.

The luggage of the passenger, as well as that of her family members, was also offloaded alongside her.

Following this exceptional situation, the flight resumed shortly after landing, adhering to crew service time regulations.

Additionally, Air Mauritius reservation teams worked to assist affected passengers in finding alternative flight solutions, particularly for those with connecting flights.

Moreover, the return flight MK749, initially scheduled to depart Mauritius this morning at 7:30 AM, will be delayed and is now expected to arrive at 12:30 PM.
