The resident of Port-Louis will represent Mauritius at the Miss International finals in Japan this November. The official announcement was made on Monday, September 15, during a press conference at the Alta Marea restaurant in Tribeca Mall. The Mauritius Committee, which holds the franchises for Miss International and Miss Supranational, presented the winners of both competitions.
"It is an immense honor and an indescribable pride to represent Mauritius on an international stage. I feel gratitude, excitement, and a deep sense of responsibility to uphold the colors of my country," explains Naarmeen Bernon. She is also a content creator, freelance model, and Leasing Executive.
Her goal is to represent Mauritius with dignity while promoting universal values such as peace, solidarity, and empowerment. Her main project, "Island Daughters", emphasizes cultural education and sustainable development for women's empowerment. "I want to inspire young girls to believe in their potential," says the Miss International Mauritius.
Empowering women is close to her heart as she believes every woman should be able to realize her potential, be independent, and contribute to society. "I grew up surrounded by courageous women, and that inspires me to convey this message. I also advocate for the importance of education, sustainability, and mental well-being," she states.
Naarmeen Bernon shares that her preparations are intense and rigorous. "I am working on various aspects: eloquence, catwalk, physical fitness, general knowledge, and my social projects. I am surrounded by wonderful people who help me bring out my best," she shares.
Moreover, the young woman notes that her journey began with a desire to step out of her comfort zone and take on challenges. "I also wanted to show that beauty contests are not just about looks but about values, projects, and voices to represent," she emphasizes.
Naarmeen Bernon was previously crowned Miss Port Louis 2022/2023 during the Miss Universe Mauritius competition. She also won the title of Winner Of Influencer Award 2024 - Special Jury Award. "These titles have allowed me to improve and build my confidence," she says.
Additionally, she has been active as an influencer for over three years. "I started out of passion, sharing my fashion and beauty experiences, and it has become a platform for expression to inspire young Mauritians and promote an authentic and positive lifestyle," she recounts.
The Importance of Family
"Being an influencer is primarily about inspiring and sharing. My role is to provide authentic content, educate, motivate, and support both local and international brands while maintaining a sincere voice true to my values," she adds.
Naarmeen studied Marketing Management, "which has helped me understand the importance of communication and strategy in my projects. Each step has provided me with valuable skills that I now apply in my role as a representative of Mauritius."
Naarmeen Bernon enjoys traveling, discovering new cultures, reading enriching books, attending artistic exhibitions or shows, and spending time with her loved ones. "I have a sister and come from a close-knit family, and my loved ones play an essential role in my journey," she states.
For her, taking care of oneself means honoring both body and mind. "It's crucial for radiating positivity outwardly, but also for being strong enough to support others," she shares.
She adds: "Believe in your dreams, even when they seem distant. Be persistent, stay true to your values, and do not fear being different. Your voice matters, and you have the power to create positive change."
Naarmeen Bernon confides that her dream is to see a generation of independent, fulfilled, and audacious Mauritian women. "Personally, I aspire to represent Mauritius honorably in Japan and leave a positive imprint that inspires future candidates and carries our country's voice beyond our borders," she concludes.
