The President's Red Line Against the Judiciary
The executive branch is eager to expedite the Senior Counsel and Senior Attorney Bill, which is set to be debated in Parliament tomorrow following an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers on Monday. The current situation is causing embarrassment for several parties: the judiciary, which has submitted its recommendations for the promotion of 20 lawyers and 13 solicitors; the presidency, which has approved 19 and 12 of them – having removed one lawyer and one solicitor from the list due to their involvement in the Afrinic case.
