Suspension of Chid Rughoobur: Narendranath Gopee Seeks Meeting with the New Governor of the BoM

Trade unionist Narendranath Gopee is seeking a meeting with the new Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Priscilla Muthoora-Thakoor.

The negotiator for the Federation of Civil Service and Other Unions wants to understand the management's stance on a sensitive issue—the reinstatement of Chid Rughoobur, who was suspended from the BoM last August.

According to the trade unionist, it is "an unjust suspension."

To recall, Chidanand Rughoobur, the president of the Bank of Mauritius Employees Union, was suspended from his duties on August 25. He claims he informed his employer of a pending charge of "rogue and vagabond" filed against him, but he does not understand how this charge justifies his removal from duty.
