95th Anniversary of Sir Gaëtan Duval's Birth: Several Commemorative Events Planned
In honor of the 95th anniversary of Sir Gaëtan Duval's birth, a prominent figure in Mauritian political life, several commemorative events are being organized this week.
His son, Richard Duval, who is now the Minister of Tourism, expressed his admiration for his father's journey, stating that he learned a lot from him. He announced that a wreath-laying ceremony will take place this Saturday in his memory.
Additionally, Richard Duval has launched the Sir Gaëtan Duval Challenge Cup, a sports tournament with the final scheduled for October 19. He describes this initiative as a tribute to his father's passion for sports and a way to carry on his legacy.
Furthermore, the PMSD will also hold a wreath-laying ceremony this Thursday afternoon at the St. Jean cemetery. A second commemoration is planned for Saturday at the Port-Louis Town Hall in the form of a special symposium titled "Sir Gaëtan Duval, Citizen of the World."
