Refusal to Comply: A Man Resists Arrest and Injures Six Police Officers

A 39-year-old man from Belvédère reportedly resisted arrest by police who informed him that his partner had filed a domestic violence complaint against him on October 8.

At the Flacq police station on Wednesday afternoon, the man refused to accompany officers into a room for questioning. A police sergeant informed him that he was under arrest and read him his rights, but the situation escalated quickly. The man became aggressive, resisted arrest, and attempted to flee. When officers tried to restrain him, he pushed a sergeant and tried to escape through the main door. All the officers present intervened to stop him, but he struggled.

PEPPER SPRAY

A policewoman then used pepper spray to subdue him. He was handcuffed and taken into custody. In a fit of rage, he reportedly struck his head multiple times against the handcuffs, injuring his forehead. He was rushed to Flacq Hospital, where he was placed under observation in room 6-1. His condition is deemed stable. Six police officers, including two women, were also injured during the incident and received treatment at the hospital before being allowed to go home. The man allegedly assaulted his partner on the morning of Wednesday, October 8, and damaged her mobile phone.
