Performance, Design, Innovation: Huawei Unveils Its New MatePad Tablets

Huawei, the Chinese tech giant, unveiled two new models of its MatePad range on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Ébène. The HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 and MatePad 12X are now available in Mauritius. These devices are designed to combine productivity, creativity, and mobility.
Continuing its push in the Mauritian tablet market, Huawei has launched these two new models to enrich its MatePad lineup. The first, the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5, is already available through authorized retailers at a price of Rs 17,999. The second, the MatePad 12X, has been on sale in Mauritius since October 3, priced at Rs 33,999. To celebrate this launch, Huawei is offering early buyers a detachable keyboard and the M-Pencil stylus, along with premium applications valued at Rs 14,000.
The MatePad 11.5 is envisioned as a versatile tool for students and professionals. It features a PaperMatte Display, an 11.5-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, providing a reading experience similar to that of paper. Thanks to its nano-level anti-glare etching technology, it eliminates up to 99% of glare, ensuring optimal visual comfort even outdoors. This treatment also enhances the screen's durability and improves writing fluidity with the M-Pencil stylus.
This tablet emphasizes productivity and creativity. It includes an enhanced version of the Huawei Notes app, allowing users to customize their note presentations and convert handwritten notes into digital text. Users can add covers, papers, and stickers for a more intuitive note-taking experience. The device is compatible with GoPaint, a digital painting application designed for both professionals and drawing enthusiasts, turning the tablet into a true creative notebook.
In terms of battery life, the MatePad 11.5 houses a high-capacity 10,100 mAh battery, offering up to 14 hours of continuous video playback. The 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge fast charging feature allows the battery to be fully charged in less than 100 minutes. For work, the device relies on PC-level WPS Office, an office suite optimized for tablets that mimics a traditional computer interface, making it easy to switch between documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
The MatePad 12X represents the high-end of this new generation. With its 12-inch PaperMatte screen boasting a 2.8K resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, it redefines visual comfort standards. Certified SGS Low Visual Fatigue Premium 2.1, it guarantees prolonged use without eye strain. Its maximum brightness of 1000 nits makes it ideal for bright environments, while its advanced display technology reproduces rich and natural colors.
Its ultra-slim design (5.9 mm thick) and lightweight (555 g) make it easy to carry without compromising on durability, thanks to its monocoque metal chassis. It also features a 10,100 mAh battery for extended usage and ultra-fast 66W charging, allowing for several hours of use in record time.
The MatePad 12X does not overlook the creative aspect. It is compatible with the HUAWEI M-Pencil 3rd generation, a next-gen stylus offering intuitive gestures like pinch and rotation, along with extreme precision for artistic work. Combined with GoPaint and Huawei Notes, it transforms into a true portable creative studio. For productivity, it also integrates PC-level WPS Office, enhanced with multi-window features and keyboard-mouse compatibility, replicating a laptop-like experience.
With these two new models, Huawei strengthens its presence in the Mauritian digital tablet market. By offering a more accessible version with the MatePad 11.5 and a premium version with the MatePad 12X, the brand aims to appeal to both students and young professionals as well as creatives. These elegantly designed tablets, with enhanced performance and tools for productivity and creation, aspire to become indispensable allies.
