U.S.-Africa Business Summit 2026: Mauritius Selected to Host 1,500 International Decision-Makers
Mauritius has made a significant mark on the international stage. The island has been chosen to host the U.S.-Africa Business Summit in 2026, one of the continent's most important economic events. Organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), this event will bring together over 1,500 high-level delegates, including African presidents, ministers, U.S. officials, and influential business leaders.
This announcement follows an initiative by the Minister of Industry, SMEs, and Cooperatives, Aadil Ameer Meea, who advocated for Mauritius to host the 2026 edition during the previous summit held in Luanda, Angola. This successful endeavor positions the country as a strategic hub between Africa and the United States. For several days, Mauritius will be alive with conferences, workshops, and bilateral meetings focused on trade, investment, and economic partnerships. Discussions will cover key areas such as energy, infrastructure, new technologies, finance, agriculture, and training. For Mauritius, this is an exceptional showcase to highlight its strengths as an international platform and attract new investors.
A Boost for Development
In parallel, the country has gained privileged access to funding from the African-Asian Rural Development Organisation (AARDO). This announcement was recently made by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, who highlighted that grants of up to $50,000 per pilot project will now be available. These funds aim to support innovative initiatives in strategic sectors such as technology, rural infrastructure, micro-enterprises, and vocational training. This new agreement results from discussions Minister Aadil Ameer Meea had with AARDO Assistant Secretary General Rami Mahmoud Abdel Halim Qtaishat during his recent mission to India.
According to the Ministry of SMEs, these two announcements confirm Mauritius's growing role as a bridge between Asia, Africa, and the United States. "By attracting a global summit while securing targeted funding for local development, the island demonstrates that it can shine on the international stage while meeting the needs of its rural communities," it is stated.
In 2026, Mauritius will be in the spotlight of the business world. A unique opportunity to strengthen its role as a key platform for global trade.
