Flic-en-Flac: Six Kilograms of Drugs Worth Rs 96 Million Seized
Flic-en-Flac: Six kilograms of drugs valued at Rs 96 million have been seized.
A bungalow in Flic-en-Flac was being used as a clandestine laboratory for synthetic drug production. During a police operation on the morning of Sunday, October 5, the manufacturers allegedly disposed of nine kilograms of synthetic drugs in the toilets. The police managed to seize six kilograms of drugs, and there were also drugs in the process of being manufactured.
Nine Kilograms Disappear
Inspector Sunnia’s team and Sergeant Seenundun were investigating an assault on a bouncer early Sunday in Flic-en-Flac. They were tracking a 4x4 vehicle involved in the incident and went to Morcellement Ruisseau Palmyre, where the suspect vehicle was parked in front of a bungalow.
Upon arriving, the police attempted to apprehend the occupant of the vehicle. However, the individuals inside the bungalow refused to cooperate and initially barred the officers from entering. The officers then climbed over the wall to access the yard.
The occupants took a while to open the main door. Meanwhile, the police heard noises coming from the toilets, where the flush was being pulled multiple times. They quickly realized that the suspects were trying to dispose of illicit products in the toilet.
Once they gained access to the inside of the bungalow, the police conducted a search. In the living room, they found boxes of green tea, gallons of "Water Repellent", gloves, and other equipment. It quickly became evident that they were in a synthetic drug manufacturing lab. "Water Repellent" is a product used in waterproofing works. The police seized synthetic drugs and a scale used for weighing substances.
In inspecting the toilets, the police found suspicious particles on the toilet bowl, and empty plastic bags littered the floor. The occupants were unable to dispose of six packages that contained a total of 6.45 kg of synthetic drugs, estimated to have a market value of around Rs 96,750,000.
Nine empty pouches were found in the toilets. The Flic-en-Flac police believe that the manufacturers managed to dispose of nine kilograms of drugs.
Arrests
The two occupants of the bungalow, Jean Steeve François and Jack Owen Sean Seesurrun, were arrested. Brian Kervin Alexander Grizzell managed to escape. The premises were secured, and experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the Scene of Crime Office were called in. Samples and the plastic bags found on site were sealed and sent to the FSL for analysis.
The police also dismantled part of the plumbing, where drug residues were found in the toilets.
The police seized Rs 90,850 and foreign currencies - 10,630 Thai baht and euros - as well as mobile phones belonging to the alleged traffickers.
On Monday, October 6, Brian Kervin Alexander Grizzell was arrested. The investigation revealed that Jack Owen Sean Seesurrun rented the bungalow. Three vehicles were seized on site: a 4x4, a BMW, and a Nissan. The police then proceeded to the Pearl Beach hotel, where the main suspect, Jean Steeve François, considered the mastermind of the operation, had rented a room. The three men faced preliminary charges of drug trafficking in the Bambous court and are in detention.
