Murder of Mark Yeung Shi Yin - Kimsan Yeung Shi Yin: 'I can't believe my brother could do this'
Kimsan Yeung Shi Yin, the daughter of Mark Yeung Shi Yin, expressed her disbelief and heartbreak over her father's murder in a fire at their home in Baie-du-Tombeau. She is shocked that her brother, Alan, is suspected of orchestrating the crime for inheritance reasons.
Mark, who was 74 years old and owned Mark’s Aquarium, was found dead on October 2nd, leaving his family devastated. Kimsan, age 18, shared her feelings in an interview, stating, "It’s unimaginable… I still can’t comprehend… What my brother did is beyond understanding. My father loved us all equally, never making a distinction. He was always there, ready to help and make us happy. This tragedy is indescribably painful… no one should have to go through this. My heart is shattered."
The house, once filled with warmth and happy memories, now feels frozen in sorrow for Kimsan. She added, "I can’t believe my dad is gone… that my brother could do this. Every wall, every object reminds me of his smile, his kindness, his jokes, his generosity."
Despite the tragedy, Kimsan finds strength in her younger brother, Hoisan, who remains a pillar of support: "He is strong. It’s a complicated matter, but we’re overcoming it together. We try to move forward, hand in hand. Even in suffering, we must remain standing," she said.
Mark was not just a father; he was a hero in everyday life and a model of love and simplicity. Kimsan reminisced about her father’s kindness, saying, "He had a heart of gold. Even after a long day, he found time for us, for the neighbors, for his students. He loved giving and helping."
Born in Mauritius to Chinese parents, Mark grew up in Rose-Belle as the second of nine children. His sister, Marie Noëlle, recalled, "Our parents made enormous sacrifices for us. Mark was the pillar of our family. Always reliable and honest, we knew we could count on him, no matter what happened."
Mark was a dedicated teacher who believed in the power of education. He taught chemistry in several schools and encouraged his students, believing that every student could succeed. His love for fish led him to open Mark’s Aquarium, reflecting his philosophy of respect, patience, and balance.
In the wake of his death, Kimsan concluded, "Dad is missed in every gesture, every moment. But his love still guides us." The Yeung Shi Yin family is determined to stay united as they navigate this tragedy, while the investigation continues, and Mark's memory lives on as a kind, hardworking, and generous man.
