Emran Limbajee, the DJ Who Drives a Porsche

Emran Limbajee, known as DJ Emran, is a 32-year-old DJ who has captivated audiences in Mauritius and beyond. He represents a generation of self-taught Mauritian youths determined to carve their own path. With over 110,000 TikTok followers, 2.3 million likes on Facebook, 55,000 fans, and 20,000 Instagram followers, he has established himself as one of the most popular DJs in the country.

Behind the turntables and the spotlight lies a story of hard work, faith, and pure passion. A humble young man educated at SSS Bambous, he has turned a teenage passion into an international career — realizing one of his biggest dreams: to buy a Porsche, a symbol of success and perseverance.

Early Beginnings

Born into a family of three children, Emran is the youngest. From a young age, he has been fascinated by sounds, rhythms, and atmospheres. His first musical experience came from CDs, allowing him to explore transitions and beats before even owning professional gear.

At SSS Bambous, he quickly became known for energizing recesses, year-end parties, and school events. "At 15, I already understood that I wanted to make music my life, but I didn't know how yet," he recalls.

At 16, he became "DJ Lekol," the school DJ. With an old computer, borrowed speakers, and plenty of energy, Emran began mixing. He discovered a true gift for reading crowds and getting them to dance. "I had no professional equipment, just passion and determination. I made do with what I had," he shares.

From School DJ to Resident DJ

At 18, he became a resident DJ at the Shout club, and the name DJ Emran started to gain traction. His ability to mix various styles — Bollywood, Sega, Afrobeat, Dancehall, EDM, Old School, or Latino — attracted a broad and loyal audience.

Simultaneously, he regularly performed at the University of Mauritius, entertaining students at major events four times a year for seven consecutive years. "That's where I truly learned to understand the audience. Every crowd is different, and so is every energy. You have to adapt," he explains.

Balancing Dual Careers: DJ and Model Employee

In 2016, Emran joined the Procurement department at ABC Motors. For nine years, he led a double life: employee by day and DJ by night. "I always wanted to be responsible. I loved my job at ABC. It was a great school for discipline, organization, and rigor," he notes.

Yet, his passion for music remained intact. Every weekend and free evening, he played at weddings, private parties, and major events. "I often came home late, and the next day I was at the office. It wasn't easy, but I did it with heart," he emphasizes.

The Breakthrough: Dubai, London, and the International Stage

International opportunities opened up in November 2018 when he was invited to perform in Dubai for an expatriate Mauritian event. The success was immediate. He returned to Dubai in November 2024, January, and July 2025, notably for prestigious parties at the Hilton Rooftop, thrilling the expatriate Mauritian audience.

"I felt immense pride representing my island. When Mauritians dance to remixed Sega in Dubai, it's magical," he shares. In July 2025, he traveled to the UK for a Mauritian diaspora event, before heading back to Dubai the following month.

Today, he is booked through the end of 2026, and his name has become a reference on posters, both in Mauritius and abroad.

Taking the Leap: Pursuing His Passion Full Time

In October 2024, Emran made a bold decision: he left ABC Motors to fully dedicate himself to his DJ career. "I told myself: if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it," he insists.

Since then, bookings have been rolling in, and videos of his performances are exploding on social media. The DJ confides, "Social media is my way of staying close to those who have always supported me. Without my fans, I am nothing."

A Passion for Cars

Emran has always been fascinated by cars, mechanics, and speed. This summer, he realized a dream: buying a Porsche, the fruit of his hard work and sacrifices. "I bought it with my savings after years of work and sleepless nights. It's my reward," he states.

Before the Porsche, he owned a BMW and a Mercedes, and he still has a Peugeot for personal reasons. Today, he owns three cars and two motorcycles: one for the track and one for daily use.

He emphasizes, "Being a DJ is an art. But loving cars is also a passion that drives me to move forward and exceed myself."

Being a DJ: The Art of Making People Happy

For Emran, being a DJ is not just about playing music; it's a dialogue with the crowd. "When I mix, I feel the audience's energy. My goal is to turn that energy into happiness," he explains.

He navigates across all genres, from Mauritian Sega to international beats, including Indian, Afro, Electro, or Dancehall music. "Music unites people. When I see everyone dancing together, regardless of age or religion, I know I have succeeded in my mission," he rejoices.

His Philosophy: Faith, Work, and Sincerity

Three values guide his success: faith, perseverance, and sincerity. For Emran, "God sees the efforts. When we work with a sincere heart, He opens the right doors for us." He sees himself as a lucky young man, not a star. "I’m not better than others. I just worked hard, day after day. Anyone can do it if they maintain faith and discipline," he believes.

An Example for the Youth

DJ Emran inspires an entire generation of young people. "What I have didn't come overnight. I started with nothing, with a second-hand computer and many dreams. If I could do it, others can too," he asserts.

His success goes beyond music; it represents Mauritian pride, proof that one can shine internationally without renouncing their roots.

The Future: Even Higher

With a schedule full until 2026, Emran is preparing new collaborations, exclusive events, and projects to support young talents.

His wish: "I would like to someday open a DJ school to share what I've learned. We must help the next generation believe in their dreams."

Between his Porsche, turntables, and motorcycles, Emran Limbajee is driving more than ever down the road to success — paved by hard work, faith, and passion.

In a nutshell

"Nothing is impossible when you believe in yourself. All you need is the right music in your heart, and God will take care of the rest," he concludes.
