Warren Brunchault Dies in Accident: His 5-Year-Old Daughter Will Grow Up Without Him

Warren Brunchault’s tragic death has cast a shadow over the Brunchault family in Rose-Hill. On the evening of Monday, October 6, James Warren Brunchault, aged 30, lost his life in a collision on the highway at Camp Chapelon when his motorcycle struck a truck. The impact was devastating, leaving him with no chance of survival.

The accident occurred shortly after 11:30 PM. While traveling towards Pailles, James's motorcycle collided with a truck from a private company. The truck driver, a man in his fifties from Curepipe, reported hearing a loud noise before he stopped. Upon exiting his vehicle, he was met with a heart-wrenching sight: a shattered motorcycle and a young man lying lifeless on the pavement.

Police who arrived could only confirm the death. Warren's body was taken to the morgue at Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, while the vehicles were impounded for investigation.

Warren’s father, Selwyn Brunchault, struggles to stay strong in the face of this harsh reality. As the eldest of three siblings, including a daughter, he expressed, “We don’t know how this happened. We just want to understand... He was a cheerful boy, always willing to help. He loved going out, seeing his friends, and recently became passionate about pétanque.”

Beside him, his mother weeps silently. Warren’s devastated partner holds their five-year-old daughter close, unaware of the tragedy that has changed their lives forever.

The funeral took place on Wednesday morning, attended by family, friends, and neighbors, all of whom remembered a smiling, hardworking young man deeply devoted to his family. “He had so many plans. Just last week, we gathered to celebrate his wife’s birthday, and today he is taken from us in such tragic circumstances,” shared a friend. “He often talked about his daughter and wanted to give her the best.”

With this latest tragedy, the number of road victims has risen to 96 since the beginning of the year. However, for the Brunchault family, this statistic represents a name, a face, a voice that will never be heard again.

Every road death is a story cut short, a dream shattered, a family learning to cope with loss. Warren’s story serves as a poignant reminder that behind every accident, there are hearts that ache.
