Private Jet from Madagascar to Mauritius: Acting PM Paul Bérenger Orders Investigation
Acting Prime Minister Paul Bérenger voiced his outrage after a private jet from Madagascar made an emergency landing early Sunday morning. The aircraft was carrying former Malagasy Prime Minister Christian Ntsay, a businessman, and their associates. According to Paul Bérenger, clear instructions issued by the Civil Aviation Authority were not followed.
Dissatisfied with the conditions under which this private flight was allowed to land in Mauritius, Paul Bérenger stated that he had ordered an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding this landing. He added that he had informed Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, who is currently abroad, about the situation.
Paul Bérenger assured that he is monitoring the situation in Madagascar "hour by hour" and clarified that if a landing request from the Malagasy president were to be made, it would be considered.
It is important to note that the protests, initially sparked by young people protesting against water and electricity cuts, have evolved into a broader movement directed against President Andry Rajoelina.
