Rodrigues: The Tradition of Octopus Fishing Continues

After a two-month ban aimed at allowing octopuses to breed, fishing has resumed in the lagoon of Rodrigues on Tuesday, October 7. Fishermen initially harvested between six and nine tons of octopus, with a goal of reaching 30 tons by the end of the season.

This year, the total quantity of octopus caught has already reached 18,504.42 kg, compared to 16,383.75 kg in 2024, marking an increase of 2,120.67 kg. The Southeast port alone has recorded 1,858.35 kg so far.
