You Have Only 24 Hours to Declare Your Income to the MRA!

Attention taxpayers! You have just one day left to submit your income declaration for the 2025/2026 year. The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) reminds you that the deadline is set for midnight on October 15.
As the deadline approaches, 241,561 declarations have already been received, compared to 213,700 at the same time last year, representing an increase of 27,861 submissions. Since August, the MRA has refunded over Rs 688 million to taxpayers.
The MRA emphasizes that those who have not yet declared must do so promptly. Any late declaration incurs penalties: 5% of the tax owed, or for electronic declarations, Rs 2,000 per month up to a cap of Rs 20,000.
Small businesses (turnover ≤ Rs 10 million) and individuals without commercial activity benefit from a reduced rate of 2%, with a cap of Rs 5,000.
Payment delays also generate 0.5% interest per month on the outstanding balance.
For those facing difficulties with online declarations, the MRA offers on-site assistance. The Customer Service Centre and the Cash Office, located at Ehram Court, at the corner of Mgr Gonin and Sir Virgil Naz streets in Port-Louis, are open to help taxpayers complete their processes. Meeting this deadline is crucial to avoid penalties, interest, and administrative complications. "Declaring and paying on time also secures your refunds and keeps you compliant with tax legislation," states the MRA.
