A Workshop Examines the Public-Private Partnership Aimed at Strengthening Veterinary Services

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, a three-day national workshop on public-private partnerships aimed at enhancing veterinary services in Mauritius was launched in Ébène by the Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy, and Fisheries, Dr. Arvin Boolell.

The goal of this workshop is to pave the way for the establishment of a robust national animal health system.

Rahul Srivastava, the project leader for the public-private partnership at the World Organisation for Animal Health, was also present on this occasion.

In his speech, Dr. Arvin Boolell emphasized that this workshop is of paramount importance for promoting the new mindset of the ministry, which is to think and act positively while addressing relevant and fundamental issues to empower stakeholders in the sector.

The minister highlighted the need to bring the public and private sectors closer together to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge, stressing that all sector stakeholders must be involved in the learning process. The scope, reach, and depth of their contributions during the session and the outcomes of the workshop will be recorded in a roadmap.

According to him, a strong public-private partnership characterized by transparency and accountability is sure to be effective.

In this regard, he emphasized the necessity of partnering and mobilizing resources, addressing constraints, meeting the needs of all stakeholders, and adopting professionalism in the sector.
