Death of Lee Ann Palmarozza in 2014: Site Visit at Anahita Under the Supervision of Judge Carol Green-Jokhoo

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, a site visit took place at Anahita Resort in Grande Rivière Sud-Est, as part of the lawsuit filed by South African Peter Wayne Roberts against Anahita Residence & Villas Limited. This visit follows the death of South African citizen Lee-Ann Palmarozza, which occurred in 2014 at the hotel.

Around 11:06 AM, Judge Carol Green-Jokhoo arrived at the site in a BMW. At the entrance of the complex, a security officer directed her to the designated meeting point for the visit. The purpose of this inspection is to clarify certain issues raised during recent Supreme Court hearings, particularly regarding the safety conditions and services provided by the hotel at the time of the incident.

The visit was attended by the concerned parties and their respective lawyers. Senior Counsel Me Maxime Sauzier represents the interests of Anahita Resort, while Senior Counsel Me Rishi Pursun represents the plaintiff, Peter Wayne Roberts. The entire process was conducted under the supervision of Judge Green-Jokhoo.

The events date back ten years. In January 2014, Lee-Ann Palmarozza, a 35-year-old South African tourist, was found dead in the pool of Anahita Resort. Her then-partner, Peter Wayne Roberts, is now seeking a sum of 3 million US dollars – approximately 136 million rupees – from Anahita Residence & Villas Limited. He claims that the company failed to meet its contractual obligations and did not provide adequate safety on site.
