Landing of a Private Jet in Mauritius: A Criminal Attachment Order Issued Against Maminiaina Ravatomanga

On Friday, October 17, the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) announced the initiation of an investigation into money laundering involving Malagasy businessman Maminiaina Ravatomanga. This decision follows a complaint lodged against him, as stated in an official FCC communiqué.

The FCC also indicated that a Criminal Attachment Order has been issued on the bank accounts of Ravatomanga, his wife, and several companies associated with him in Mauritius.

According to information available to the FCC, Maminiaina Ravatomanga allegedly transferred a significant amount of money to Mauritius with the presumed intention of moving those funds to another jurisdiction before leaving Mauritian territory.

The circumstances surrounding the landing of a private jet from Madagascar on the night of October 11 to 12 have garnered much attention. On board were former Malagasy Prime Minister Christian Louis Ntsay, businessman Maminiaina Ravatomanga, their respective wives, and the crew members, amid a severe political crisis on the island. The former Prime Minister and his wife have already left Mauritius.
