Nicolas Sarkozy Files for Release

Former President Nicolas Sarkozy has submitted a request for release through his lawyers immediately following his incarceration on Tuesday, as announced by his counsel, Christophe Ingrain, to the press.

His placement in custody is "a disgrace," the lawyer added. He made this statement outside the Santé prison in Paris, where the former head of state has been detained nearly a month after being sentenced to five years in prison for conspiracy in the Libyan trial, marking an unprecedented detention in the history of the Republic.
