The clouds associated with Chenge are expected to start affecting the weather in Agalega from tomorrow evening, Wednesday, October 22. The weather will become cloudy with moderate to heavy showers, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms starting Thursday morning, October 23.

This information was confirmed by the Vacoas weather station in a statement issued at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, October 21.

As of 4 PM, the moderate tropical storm Chenge was located approximately 880 km east of Agalega, near the coordinates 9.8 degrees South and 64.7 degrees East.

It is moving west-southwest at a speed of about 10 km/h.

Winds will blow from the south at about 40 km/h, gradually strengthening with gusts that could reach 90 km/h as the system approaches the island.

The sea, which is already choppy, will become very rough with swells starting tomorrow evening. The public is strongly advised not to venture out to sea.

Mauritius meteorological services specify that the uncertainty of forecasting models increases beyond three days. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as new data becomes available.
