Seventy-Year-Old Hospitalized: Investigation Launched for Possible Assault on a Convent Resident

An investigation was opened on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, by the Pope Hennessy police following the admission of a 77-year-old woman to Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital under suspicious circumstances. This resident of a convent in Port-Louis may be involved in a case of assault on a vulnerable person.

The alert was raised around 9:50 PM when a specialist on duty reported a suspicion of sexual assault to the authorities. The patient, initially admitted for pain and confusion, was met by a police team at the hospital. However, the septuagenarian was unable to provide a clear testimony and no formal complaint has yet been filed. She remains hospitalized under medical supervision and is receiving psychological support.
