Illegal Rallies and Vandalism: Four Suspects, Including Three Minors, Arrested by Police

In recent days, illegal rallies held on the Roche-Bois highway have escalated, resulting in the vandalism of several police vehicles. In response, the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit (DCIU) of Metro Port-Louis North, supported by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Roche-Bois, arrested four suspects, including three minors.

Numerous incidents of damage to police vehicles were reported in Roche-Bois, Vallée-Pitot, Trou-Fanfaron, and Plaine-Verte. These attacks occurred while law enforcement was conducting operations against illegal gatherings, intoxicated drivers, and suspicious behaviors.

Thanks to intelligence work carried out by the DCIU Metro North under the supervision of DPS Aliphon, and the CID of Roche-Bois overseen by SP Dawoonauth and ACP Ramdany, the police were able to track down the troublemakers. The investigation initially identified a 15-year-old suspect believed to have participated in an illegal rally on October 18 in Roche-Bois before abandoning his motorcycle and fleeing. A 32-year-old man, the owner of the motorcycle, was also arrested.

On Tuesday, two more youths aged 16 and 17, residing in Sainte Croix, were apprehended. They admitted to their involvement in these illegal activities and were questioned in the presence of their parents.

Investigations also revealed the existence of four garages in the Northern region, suspected of preparing specially modified motorcycles for these clandestine races. A thorough investigation is ongoing to dismantle this network and prevent further incidents involving minors.
