A Tranquebar Resident Stabbed by His Stepfather

A 35-year-old man was seriously injured by his stepfather with a knife in Tranquebar on Wednesday, October 22. The victim was found sitting with a wound to his abdomen. He was immediately taken care of and transported to Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital by the Pope Hennessy police. He is currently under observation, and the police have launched an investigation.

The attack occurred around 5:20 PM. Police from the Pope Hennessy station were alerted and arrived at the scene. They found the victim sitting, unable to get up, and covered in blood. The police discovered a broken knife blade and a wooden handle stained with blood. A pair of sunglasses was also seized from the location. According to the police, the young man and his stepfather had a discussion that escalated into violence.

The 63-year-old stepfather and his son-in-law live at the same address. The older man was arrested and taken to the station for questioning. He appeared before the Port-Louis court on a provisional charge of assault on Thursday, October 23.

The victim is still under observation at Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital. The police are waiting for him to recover before taking his statement.
