Russia: Five Injured in Ukrainian Drone Attack in Suburb of Moscow

Five people, including a child, were injured in a nighttime Ukrainian drone attack targeting a residential building in Krasnogorsk, a suburb of Moscow, local authorities reported on Friday.

"An enemy drone struck a residential building last night," wrote local official Dmitri Volkov on Telegram, specifying that the attack hit the 14th floor of the building.

"Five people were injured," including four adults and a boy born in 2017, all of whom were hospitalized, according to the same source.

"A drone penetrated an apartment located on the 14th floor," added Moscow region governor Andreï Vorobiov on Telegram, sharing a photo of the damaged apartment with shattered windows, warped walls, and broken furniture.

In total, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that it had neutralized 111 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory.

Since the beginning of its offensive three and a half years ago, Russia has been launching drones and missiles almost daily at Ukraine, which regularly retaliates by striking Russian territory, particularly energy infrastructure.

However, Moscow and its region are rarely targeted.

The attack in Krasnogorsk comes as U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his frustration on Wednesday towards Russian President Vladimir Putin and announced what he described as "huge" sanctions against the Russian oil sector, hoping to compel Moscow to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the European Union announced on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement to tighten sanctions on Russian hydrocarbons and cut off resources for the Kremlin.
