"Who is the informant?" : The battle over disclosure reignites the safe deposit box affair
Yesterday morning's scene outside the Financial Crimes Division resembled a long-awaited rematch. On one side was the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Mᵉ Nataraj Muneesamy, firmly advocating for a strict interpretation of the duty of disclosure and the materiality test. On the other side was Senior Counsel Mᵉ Robin Ramburn, attorney for Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, who condemned the investigation as "born from a political vendetta" and demanded access to the identity of the informant.
