On the Highway in Phoenix: Seven Armed Individuals Attack a Driver and Steal His Car

On Wednesday, October 22, the Eastern Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit (DCIU) arrested a suspect and recovered two stolen vehicles in Vuillemin, related to an assault that occurred on Tuesday, October 21, on the Phoenix highway. The investigation, supported by Safe City surveillance footage, led to the identification of the suspects. More arrests are expected in this case.

Around 9:20 PM on Tuesday, a 22-year-old man driving a black Toyota Sienta company vehicle was targeted by seven individuals armed with baseball bats, swords, and other weapons.

The assailants' car, a black 2018 Kia, overtook the black Toyota Sienta before stopping abruptly in front of it, forcing it to halt. The attackers exited their vehicle and forced the driver of the Toyota out. They beat him up and fled with his car.

The driver of the Toyota filed a report, and the DCIU located the stolen Kia. The vehicle was found abandoned in a sugarcane field in Vuillemin. A 35-year-old suspect from the area was arrested at his home and confessed his involvement during questioning.

Police also recovered the stolen company vehicle, which was abandoned in the same field. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Phoenix is investigating both vehicles and the suspect. The CID is on the trail of other suspects involved in the assault.
