Turmoil at CHCL: The Joint Negotiating Panel Demands the Resignation of Gassen Dorsamy
Tension is high at Cargo Handling Corporation Ltd (CHCL). The Joint Negotiating Panel, which includes unions from the port sector, is demanding the resignation of Gassen Dorsamy, the Managing Director of CHCL. Its president, Gérard Bertrand, describes the situation as "extremely tense" within the corporation and accuses the Managing Director of ignoring collective agreements. According to him, the team rotation system remains the main issue, as it is an exhausting working method for port employees, significantly impacting productivity.
Gérard Bertrand is calling for intervention from the Prime Minister and has threatened to strike if no measures are taken.
Contacted by RadioPlus on Friday, October 24, Gassen Dorsamy stated that he has no intention of resigning. The Managing Director of CHCL shifted the blame to the unions, accusing them of causing confusion.
