Operation 'Keep Watch': Truck Driver Caught Red-Handed Dumping Construction Debris
Operation 'Keep Watch': Environmental police officers conducted a raid in Morc. St. Joseph, Arsenal, on Saturday morning. During this operation, a truck driver was caught red-handed dumping construction debris on a vacant lot. He was immediately intercepted and fined Rs 25,000, with an order to remove all the waste he had discarded.
Since the beginning of the year, the environmental police have recorded 69 cases of illegal dumping involving more than 55 trucks. Additionally, there have been 1,045 cases of littering, where offenders have been caught throwing cans, bottles, or other rubbish outside of bins.
Rajesh Bhagwan, Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, stated:
"With the environmental police on the front lines, we are waging an unrelenting campaign against illegal dumping on vacant lands and sugarcane fields. We will be merciless against offenders and are working on amendments for harsher penalties. We urge the public to become guardians of the Environment and report the perpetrators of illegal dumping."
