Veena Jutton is a heartbroken mother. Her daughter, Natasha Vidushi Cornet, aged 35, was murdered by her husband. The lifeless body of this mother of three children, aged 17, 15, and 10, was discovered on the evening of Sunday, October 26, in an abandoned lot by a river in Morcellement Sainte-André, Plaine-des-Papayes.

Veena reveals that her daughter was a victim of domestic violence. "My child (Natasha Vidushi Cornet) was suffering a lot with him (her husband). He was unemployed. It was my daughter who worked multiple jobs to support their family. After being beaten by her husband, she would take refuge with me, sometimes for a month. I begged her. I told her she doesn’t need to go. She told me: 'No, Mom, I have to go for the kids,'" Veena cries.

"My daughter worked hard, and her husband took all her money. If my daughter refused to give him money, he would beat her. He had stopped hitting her when she obtained a Protection Order. But soon after, he returned to his abusive ways," adds Veena.

"I told her she shouldn’t go because her children needed her. Today, I’ve lost her," sobs the mother, utterly devastated by her daughter's death.

It’s worth noting that Natasha Vidushi Cornet’s husband, Aumanand Singh Cornet, aged 37, was arrested on Monday, October 27, by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Pamplemousses while he was heading to the northern hospital. This repeat offender has been admitted to the hospital under police guard.
