In Curepipe: Two Suspects Arrested for Stealing Money and Personal Effects from a Student and a Tourist
In Curepipe, two men aged 21 and 44 were arrested on Monday, October 27, by the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit (DCIU) following two assaults that occurred last week.
The first incident took place on Thursday, October 23, when a 17-year-old student was approached near a pharmacy in Curepipe. The two men allegedly robbed him of 1,900 rupees and a notebook.
The second case occurred on Saturday, October 25, in Trou-aux-Cerfs. A Russian tourist, accompanied by his wife, was assaulted and hit on the head before having his bag stolen, which contained a camera and 2,000 rupees.
Thanks to reliable information, the police were able to identify and apprehend the suspects. During their interrogation, they confessed to the crimes.
The two men have been detained and are scheduled to appear before the court on Tuesday, October 28.
