Hurricane Melissa Strikes Jamaica with Winds Up to 300 km/h

Hurricane Melissa, described as "one of the most powerful hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic," made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday, with winds reaching nearly 300 kilometers per hour, as reported by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.

The hurricane struck in the southwest of Jamaica, near New Hope, with sustained winds estimated at 295 km/h. This is the most powerful hurricane to have ever hit this Caribbean nation.
