Chagos: BIOT Citizens: Decision Pending in London
The legal battle over the transfer of sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius has moved to the High Court in London on Tuesday, October 28. Three British citizens of Chagossian descent – Misley Mandarin, Michel Mandarin, and Bertrice Pompe from the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) Citizens – have taken legal action against the government of Sir Keir Starmer. They accuse the government of making illegal decisions and ignoring the rights and interests of the Chagossian people.
