A 17-year-old high school student tragically took her own life following the distribution of intimate photos of her on Telegram. Her family holds her ex-boyfriend responsible for this act.
During examination period, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the teenager ended her life by hanging at her home. According to her loved ones, the young girl was deeply distressed after her intimate photos were shared on the Telegram platform. Her ex-boyfriend, a 20-year-old student, is suspected of being the source of this leak.
Always smiling, studious, and determined to succeed, the young girl was actively preparing for her exams. The release of her photos is said to have caused her intense emotional distress. A close friend shared, "He put her photos on Telegram." Her mother, with a broken voice, recounted, "She had fifteen days left before her exams… this situation had drained her emotionally."
On Sunday, October 26, the girl’s funeral took place. However, a violent confrontation involving her ex-boyfriend, who resides in Terre-Rouge, erupted. He reported to the local police station on Tuesday, October 28, at 9:45 PM to file a complaint. In his account, he claimed to have attended the funeral with his mother. While there, the mother of the deceased allegedly grabbed him by the collar and pushed him against a wall. Friends of the young woman then reportedly punched him multiple times in the face and head.
Two individuals intervened to pull him away from the scene. Injured, he stated he did not seek medical attention. The young man claims he can identify his attackers. According to him, they accused him of sharing intimate photos of his ex-girlfriend on social media, an allegation he vehemently denies, asserting he possesses no such images.
In a video posted on Facebook on Tuesday, the father of the deceased stated that his daughter committed the irreparable after intimate photos of her were shared on social media. "I want to ask the authorities what they will do to ensure this does not happen to another child," he expressed.
He recalled their last conversation just hours before the tragedy: "I was telling her we were going to celebrate mom’s birthday… I didn’t know it would be the last time I heard her voice." Now, he seeks justice: "Now I’m learning a boy has harassed her… we will not let this go unpunished. I have only one daughter, I lost her, I demand justice for her and that this never happens again."
An investigation is ongoing.
A peaceful march is being planned by the victim's family to raise awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying and its devastating consequences. "We do not want such a tragedy to happen again," they assert.
