The Master Plan for Île-aux-Bénitiers Officially Unveiled

On Thursday, October 30, Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger, accompanied by several ministers including Shakeel Mohamed, Rajesh Bhagwan, and Richard Duval, unveiled the Master Plan for Île-aux-Bénitiers during a press conference.

The master plan includes various developments, such as pedestrian pathways, solar-powered electricity, rainwater collection tanks, waste management facilities, and a surveillance system. The goal is to promote tourism activities while preserving the island's ecosystem.

The project also features a controlled entry system at La Gaulette, utilizing an "e-ticketing" system to regulate the number of daily visitors. According to authorities, the island can accommodate between 3,000 and 4,000 people during peak times.

Paul Bérenger announced the government's intention to create an agency responsible for managing other islets in the country. Present at the unveiling, Housing and Land Minister Shakeel Mohamed praised the teamwork that led to the project’s completion.
