Parliament: New Composition of the 'Commission on the Prerogative of Mercy'

Navin Ramgoolam has revealed the new composition of the Commission on the Prerogative of Mercy in response to a question from MP Ludovic Caserne. This body, established under section 75(2) of the Constitution, is responsible for reviewing cases of clemency and recommending possible pardons to the President of the Republic. It consists of a chairperson and at least two other members, all appointed by the President of the Republic acting on their behalf.
