Pravind Jugnauth Comments on the Ravatomanga Affair
"An unprecedented scandal." This is how former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth describes the Ravatomanga affair. According to him, "not all the truth is being told about this scandal" and "they are spreading lies".
Present on the morning of October 31 at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Site, the MSM leader did not hold back his words, referring to "lies".
"The plane landed on Sunday, and the Secretary for Home Affairs gave her clearance... I don't believe she authorized it without the Prime Minister's office's approval. There is a protocol; she must consult the Prime Minister. Either Paul Bérenger is lying, or the Secretary for Home Affairs acted independently. If she acted independently, she must take responsibility and resign," stated Pravind Jugnauth.
He believes this "scandal" has numerous political ramifications: "people in the government are involved in this matter…".
"Did the Prime Minister's office not know what kind of trafficking was being planned with Mr. Mamy?" he questions. "It was supposed to be a cash deal," he further asserts.
"Up until today, does the Prime Minister's office still not know it was supposed to be a cash deal to let him go?" the MSM leader asks.
Pravind Jugnauth emphasized that he has "no connection" with the Malagasy businessman, Mamy Ravatomanga.
Addressing the political situation in the country, he was also very critical, especially of the Bank of Mauritius.
