Fatal Road Accident in Mare-d’Albert: 16-Year-Old Passenger Succumbs to Injuries
A tragic end for Siddhi Seeboruth, a 16-year-old resident of Flacq. She was in a car with her uncle and her cousins, aged 11 and 14, when the accident that cost her life occurred. Initial reports indicate they were returning from the airport when, on the highway near Mare-d’Albert, the vehicle skidded before crashing head-on into a metal lamp post.
Police from Plaine-Magnien, firefighters, and emergency services were dispatched to the scene. The teenager, trapped in the front passenger seat, was unconscious. The Rose-Belle firefighters acted swiftly before the emergency services took over. Given her critical condition, she underwent delicate surgery. Unfortunately, in the early hours of Saturday, November 1st, she succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a shattered family.
Her two cousins, on the other hand, were thrown from the vehicle. Seriously injured, they were rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle for observation. One of them, who was to participate in the PSAC exams, was unable to attend the mathematics test on Friday. Their father, also injured and in shock, was taken to the same hospital. An alcohol test conducted on him was negative.
The investigation will need to determine the exact causes of this tragedy: excessive speed, loss of control, or mechanical failure.
